Entry 2026.281: Your statements, still there in year eleven
This week we looked at what happens to a desk's records once the broker is done with them.
Your broker keeps your statements for years, often around ten online. After that they may not be there at all, and even before then, getting an old one back usually means a portal, one download at a time, or a support request.
We think your history should stay with you: kept as long as you need it, in a place you control, at a cost you choose.
So we built it. A connector (the plugin that talks to one broker or data vendor) now keeps its own copy of what it receives, statements, activity and raw responses, each kind filed so it can find any record again. You decide how long each kind stays close at hand. Past that, older records move to cheaper long-term storage you allow, like a folder or a bucket of your own, so you are not paying fast-storage prices for history you rarely open. Anything archived can be brought back and read, by you or your agent, and every move is listed with who made it. A hold you set stops anything being removed before your recordkeeping rules allow.
Next, we're working on letting a plugin rebuild your records straight from that history, after an outage or a move.
Run it free, then open a plugin's Summary for its raw records, or start with meridian up --archive.
